Ice Baths for Architects & Interior Designers
Arctic Edge pairs natural teak or Italian travertine with a stainless steel bathing shell and a separate cooling system. For architects and interior designers, the essential decisions are material, bathing position, service access and how the complete system sits within the space.
Choose the material and bathing position
- Arctic Barrel: natural teak with an upright, seated immersion.
- Arctic Oval: natural teak with a more reclined bathing position.
- Arctic Sereno: an oval stainless steel shell, clad in Italian travertine. It shares the Oval’s form, with similar overall dimensions.
Allow for the complete system
Use a preliminary planning footprint of 1,800 × 1,100 mm for Arctic Barrel and 1,900 × 1,800 mm for Arctic Oval and Arctic Sereno. These allowances are not fabrication dimensions or a substitute for site-specific clearances. Confirm final model dimensions, the delivery route and access before construction.
The chiller normally sits beneath the Barrel’s step and behind the Oval or Sereno. It can also be positioned up to 3 metres away, provided it remains on the same floor level. Do not conceal it inside an unventilated enclosure. Keep filters, connections and the removable access cover reachable.

Resolve the MEP before the finishes
- Base: a firm, level, load-bearing surface such as suitable tile over a structurally adequate slab or concrete base.
- Electrical: coordinate the supply and protection with a qualified electrician. The chiller includes an RCD; site protection and the installation still need verification.
- Water: provide practical filling and draining arrangements. Plan waterproofing and water management for splashes, maintenance and draining.
- Ventilation: provide sufficient airflow and heat removal around the chiller. For indoor rooms, the MEP designer must assess cooling and ventilation against the room conditions and operating load.
- Controls: provide 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi for the Tuya app, scheduling and remote flow checks.
Specify the care alongside the material
Teak requires towel drying after use, with sanding and two coats of suitable outdoor teak hydro oil every four months. Leave room to carry out this care. Travertine cladding does not require the teak sanding and oiling process. Follow the Arctic Edge care instructions for each finish.
Outdoor schemes must keep the bath shaded, out of direct sun and protected from rain at all times. Resolve that protection within the design rather than relying on the bath’s lid.
