Planning an Ice Bath for a Villa or Residential Amenity

An ice bath should be planned as a complete system: the bath, access steps, cooling unit, water, power and maintenance space. Use these checks when preparing a villa wellness room or a shared residential amenity.

1. Agree who will use and maintain it

Define whether the bath is for a household or shared use, the expected frequency of use and the person responsible for its daily care. Shared amenities need an operating and cleaning plan before handover.

2. Check the route before the room

Measure the complete route from unloading to final placement, including the narrowest clear opening, lift doors, lift interior, corners and steps. Preliminary doorway guidance is at least 900 mm for Barrel and Oval and 1,000 mm for Sereno. A clear opening alone does not confirm that a bath will pass every turn.

3. Reserve the full installation area

Use preliminary footprints of 1,800 × 1,100 mm for Barrel and 1,900 × 1,800 mm for Oval or Sereno, then confirm the final arrangement with Arctic Edge. The chiller can be up to 3 metres from the bath, on the same floor level. Keep its airflow, filter access and hose route clear.

4. Confirm the structure and base

The base must be firm, level and structurally adequate. Preliminary filled weights are approximately 400–500 kg for Barrel or Oval and 500–600 kg for Sereno, excluding the bather. The chiller weighs approximately 38 kg. The project engineer must consider the bather, equipment, contact area and site conditions. A weight divided by a planning footprint is not a structural approval.

5. Coordinate power, water and heat removal

Arctic Edge is a plug-and-play system, but the room still needs suitable services. Arrange a protected power outlet verified by a qualified electrician, accessible filling and draining, and appropriate waterproofing. The chiller releases heat while cooling. An indoor installation needs sufficient ventilation or air conditioning designed for that heat and the room conditions.

6. Protect outdoor installations

Keep the bath under shade, out of direct sun and protected from rain at all times. Include this protection in the architectural and landscape design. Confirm drainage around the base so water does not collect beneath the equipment.

7. Make daily operation easy

Provide 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi for the Tuya app. Set daily on/off times and a 2–3°C deviation. Plan for 10 hours’ operation daily, never more than 12, and switch off overnight. Maintain at least four hours of water circulation each day. Check flow every morning and evening: it must stay at 20 litres per minute or above. Keep reusable hair filter and micron filter access clear so the team can respond promptly to low flow.
